Why this workshop?
Gerontogymnastics refers to programs of adapted physical activity for the elderly, designed to maintain or improve their physical, cognitive and emotional capacities. From the occupational therapy profile, gerontogymnastics seeks a series of objectives focused on promoting independence and improving the quality of life of the elderly.
What will we do in this workshop?
We will perform a series of exercises divided into several sessions which will improve the overall well-being of the elderly, promoting their independence and quality of life by maintaining their physical, cognitive, social and emotional capabilities.
Objectives to be achieved
Maintain or improve mobility and physical functionality.
Strength and endurance: Through exercises that strengthen muscles, preventing the loss of muscle mass (sarcopenia) and promoting the ability to perform daily activities.
Flexibility: Maintain or improve the range of motion of joints to facilitate the execution of daily tasks, such as dressing or bending.
Balance and coordination: Decrease the risk of falls, a common problem in the elderly, by working on stability and proprioception exercises.
Pain management and improved sleep quality.
Develop and maintain healthy habits.
Improve cognition and attention.
What exercises or activities will we do?
Exercises based on physical activity (balance, joint mobility, strengthening, coordination), so if you have any pathology or difficulty please indicate it in the registration form in the section provided for it.
