In an increasingly digitalized world, protecting minors on the Internet has become a priority. For this reason, Spain has presented the Draft Bill of the Organic Law for the Protection of Minors in Digital Environments, a pioneering regulation that seeks to guarantee a safe and healthy environment for children and adolescents online.
Key measures include:
1- Regulation of online content, imposing greater restrictions on minors’ access to inappropriate materials.
2- Privacy protection, with stricter controls on personal data collection and age verification.
3- Digital education, promoting learning about internet safety and digital rights in schools.
4- Responsibility of technology companies, requiring platforms and influencers to implement control tools and warnings about potentially harmful content.
5- Sanctions against new digital threats, such as pornographic deepfakes and grooming, in addition to raising the minimum age for consenting to the processing of personal data from 14 to 16 years.
