Motor disorders are a group of conditions that affect the ability to produce and control body movements. They vary in severity and affect muscle tone, posture, movement and acquisition of motor skills, instability and sometimes difficulty in gaining control over one’s own body.

According to DSM-5 (2014) these kind of disorders can be of two types:
Developmental coordination disorders: motor clumsiness, slowness or inaccuracy in performing motor skills. And such motor impairments are not best explained by intellectual disability, visual impairments, muscular dystrophy, degenerative disorder, cerebral palsy, etc.
Repetitive stereotyped movement disorders and tics. A tic is a sudden, rapid, recurrent, non-rhythmic vocalisation or movement… such as Tourette Syndrome.
