“Autism is close to you, it’s an opportunity to understand, accept, and celebrate diversity from our foundation FUNDANEED with a technical conference we held at the Municipal Center Julián Sánchez El Charro, inviting other associations that also work for and with people with autism. There is great anticipation as it is a pioneering conference in CYL for bringing together all the associations.
We started the conference with a greeting from the president of the board, Pilar Samaniego, with an introduction to these 8 decades of research and development on AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER.
Next, we moved on to the scientific panel, with the psychology professor, Ricardo Canal, an expert in early diagnosis of ASD, who talks about what current research brings us about autism with its recent advances and future prospects.
Next, joining the discussion is the neuropediatrician Dr. Manuel Antonio Fernández, discussing the issue of the dichotomy of diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder or not ASD.
Ending with psychologist Esteban García, who worked in the Assessment and Care Unit for people with disabilities, pointing out the new assessment systems for people with ASD.
After a debate with the audience to address their questions, the roundtable was opened with the different organizations that work with people with ASD, Ariadna with Jorge Bastardo, Asperger Association through Susana García, Aipa Association through its president Antonia Atienza, and the FUNDANEED Foundation, through its neuropsychologist María Heredero.
Each one presented the advances in their different areas of work along with their projects, as well as their empirical knowledge of working day by day with people with autism.
Celebrating diversity to achieve full inclusion of people with autism in society is one of our foundational goals.”
