Workshops for seniors over 65 years of age

+ 65 FUNDANEED PROGRAM

This is a therapeutic intervention aimed at older adults with the purpose of improving their physical, mental and social wellbeing, which translates into an improvement in their quality of life. To develop it, activities are proposed to be carried out two days a week with a duration of three hours per workshop.

Fine motor skills exercises

Objective: To maintain coordination and manual dexterity.

Activities: Modeling with plasticine or clay, stringing beads on threads, folding clothes, playing cards, handling buttons or zippers, threading needles.
Benefit: Stimulates hand strength, hand-eye coordination and motor precision.
Memory and cognitive stimulation tasks

Objective: To improve attention, memory and other cognitive functions.

Activities: Board games (memory, dominoes, puzzles), sequencing activities (e.g., ordering recipes), guessing games, word search or crossword puzzles.
Benefit: Stimulates cognitive functioning, concentration and problem solving.
Music therapy

Goal: Promote emotional well-being and social interaction.

Activities: Listening to music from their youth, playing simple instruments (tambourine, maracas), singing familiar songs or karaoke, simple dances.
Benefit: Improves mood, long-term memory and socialization.
Labor therapy activities and creative handicrafts

Objective: To work on gross motor skills, balance and muscle strength.

Activities: Transplanting pots, planting seeds, watering plants, organizing small garden areas.
Benefit: Improves coordination, muscle strength and promotes contact with nature, which can be relaxing.

Goal: Encourage creativity and self-expression.

Activities: Painting, collage, weaving, embroidery, making cards or photo albums, decorating objects (such as vases or picture frames).
Benefit: Stimulates creativity, improves coordination and provides a sense of accomplishment.
Mobility and balance exercises

Goal: Improve mobility, balance and reduce the risk of falls.

Activities: Seated exercises, assisted walking, yoga or tai chi for seniors, gentle stretching, elastic band exercises.
Benefit: Maintains flexibility, strengthens muscles and improves balance.
Reminiscence (stimulation of autobiographical memory)

Objective: To promote memory and emotional well-being. Through images and sounds.

Activities: Conversations about the past (remembering important events in your life), looking at old photos, creating a memory album, writing a short autobiography.
Benefit: Improves self-esteem and strengthens personal identity, providing a sense of purpose.
Relaxation and stress management

Objective: To promote physical and mental relaxation.

Activities: Breathing techniques, guided relaxation exercises, meditation, visualization exercises, use of relaxing music.
Benefit: Reduces stress, improves mood and promotes general well-being.
Intergenerational Activities

Objective: To promote social contact and knowledge sharing.

Activities: Workshops involving children or adolescents, collaborative games between generations, reading stories to children, sharing life stories.
Benefit: Strengthens the sense of community, generates meaningful connections and promotes self-esteem.
Adapted board games

Goal: Maintain mental agility and encourage social interaction.

Activities: Board games such as bingo, chess or Parcheesi, adapted to their physical and cognitive abilities.
Benefit: Strengthens cognitive skills, memory and logical reasoning, in addition to promoting socialization.
